Raila Interviewed by telephone!

<Interviewing Raila Odinga!We are priviledged to bring to the readers, a telephone interview with Raila Odinga, the man who wants to be president:

APN: Mr Raila, you have told Kenyans that you are the right man for the presidency. Why do you think so?

Raila: I am the right man because I want Kenyans to have a change, to be led by younger generation who can deliver.

APN: Your father wanted to become Kenya’s leader. He never got it. You emerged and trying to fulfil what he did not achieve. Is it to ensure that you someone in the family gets it?

Raila: No, then you get it wrong. In fact I do not like the line APN takes when addressing ODM-K issues. I feel APN is negative towards ODM-K.

APN: Do you think ODM-K will elect you the flag bearer?

Raila: Actually I do not want to be president but prime minister. I want Kalonzo to become flag bearer. If we can change the constitution and open a way for primiership I will be happy with that.

APN: People say you cannot be trusted. You have changed parties as you change clothes. You ran away from Ford-K, your father’s own political machine, Can you tell us why?

Raila: When my father died after building the party, others wanted to gain from his sweat. They refused to listen to me. I wanted to be chairman of the party but they refused. They said I was young. I decded to leave with my Luo supporters. Then others I did not expect followed also. That is when I decided to form NDP.

APN: Then you were not satisfied in your own party?

Raila: Yes I was not. I discovered that it would not take over power. So I started planning. I knew Moi was getting Old. He promised me that I was to take over Kanu if I dismantled my party. When I did join Kanu, he organised so that I took over as Secretary General. Moi knew my plan. I wanted to be the first Luo to rule the country. He told me he would help me get to the top. I was happy. In fact I became so sure when he started allowing me to travel presidential with him.

APN: But then hat happned between you and Moi? You did not become his choice in the end. When they came to Kassarani, it was Uhuru Kenyatta that was a preferred man to take over Kanu.

Raila: Yes you are right. I never forgave Moi after that. I decided it was time to move on and find something else to do. Our knowledge was that Kibaki was a weak man. So I started to strategise to join him. But I did not want to do so directly. I needed a party to use as a stepping stone. LDP was there ready for me.

APN: Then what happened?

Raila: I realised many others were willing to abandon Moi and Kanu. I told my wife how happy I was that even Kalonzo was willing to abandon Moi together with Saitoti. That would strengthen me in search of firm leadership in he new party. But I did not want to become the leader of LDP. It was important not to let people know what was happening. Moi got desperate. He send his personal assistant to offer me 100 million, if only I could help Kanu to remain in power. I agreed to help But behind the scenes, we were very active to make Kibaki feel he was the man to take over. It was important to do that because we were thinking og the Kikuyus who were now thirsty after power.

APN: Tell us what transpired after you made Kibaki accept to be the uniting figure.

Raila: He was sick. We thought we were using him. We thought the chance to take over from him was there. He quickly short-changed all of us and took firm control. I have never been bitter like that day. I had it in my hands and it was taken away from from me. I was very sure that within one year, I would become prime minister. It did not happen. I was nery sad not to deliver to the Luo people what I had promised them.

APN: What had you promised them?

Raila: I had promised them that it was our time and that we were getting it this time. It really made me feel bad. It even strained my marraige at the time. I used to joke with my wife that she would soon be the First Lady. I never knew she took it seriously.

APN: Does she expect you to be the next president of Kenya after the next general elections?

Raila: I do not want to answer that! Have you finished your questions? I have to go.

APN: No sir, We still have a few questions. We would like to know if you think you will defeat Kibaki?

Raila: I do not like your line of questioning. Are you recording the interview?

APN: Yes sir. We have recorded it for record purposes only.

Raila: Will I get a copy of it?

APN: Yes. We will make a copy for you. Just allow us to ask two more questions.

Raila: OK go ahead.

APN: There are speculations that if you take over power in Kenya, you will make Kisumu the capital of Kenya. There are also rumours that you will emphasise in the use of Luo language in State House. Is this wrong sir?

Raila: I want to make it clear. Every leader chooses the people he trusts. It is definite that I will have trusted people around me. It does not matter what tribe they come from. But it is important for me to have those I know very well and then the choice can easily fall to those I know from children-hood. On the question of the capital being moved to Kisumu. I want to tell you that I have never thought of doing that. It does not mean that I cannot operate from Kisumu just like Jomo Kenyatta operated from Gatundu. Moi operated from his home Kabarak. Both of them were being paid homage ther by diplomats and dignitaries. What is wrong doing that to promote business in Kisumu? In fact many dignitaries I have met love eating fish and there is plenty in Kisums.

APN: Who would you have as minister of justice if you were to become president?

Raila: Kibaki has Karua after Kiraitu. Kajwang is a good fellow. Or will that be tribal? Anyway, that is not something I go around thinking about. But for sure, I would abolish provincial administration. And give more power to county councils. I would have Mudavadi as my running mate to woe the Luhyias and if Uhuru backs my candidacy, I will open a door for him in the cabinet. I know you want to hear about Ruto. I will make him a minister of state in my office in charge of National Development. That will ensure Rift Valley is developed.

APN: Will you arrest Kibaki and Moi for the accusations against them on past corruption if you were chosen president?

Raila: I do not wish to answer this question, but let me give you a short comment. Justice must be done, and if anyone has abused his authority, I will not interfere if charges against them are instituted. 

APN: Thank you sir for granting us this telephone interview. We wish you well in your strategies ahead of the elections.

This was a very interesting interview interupted by reservations from the Raila, who was not sure whether or not he should give us the interview.

Raila goes tribal, creates Awendoline, goes provincial, creating Nyanzarism, Will he go National and Luorise Kenya?

<Mr Raila Odinga, the man who wants to be president!

Nyanza leaders have now come out in support of Mr Raila Odinga. It was expected, it only took long to come out.

Former president Moi and now Kibaki have told the voters that the ODM-K luminaries are out to divide Kenyans on tribal lines.

Now is the beginning to that division of Kenya. It has started with Nyanza province for Raila, before it goes over to villages and tribes.

When politicians in the whole province announce their support for one leader who hails from the same province, unless the voters do not see what is happening, this is the beginning of the fall of ODM-K.

The reported weekend meeting said to have been attended by Kisii, Kuria and Luo tribesmen, all of whom make up Nyanza province is very shocking and scary.

They called it a consultative meeting. It has now emerged that a lot of money that came from foreigners changed hands during the meeting. This will not bring prosperity to Kenya.

Former Finance Minister under Moi, Mr Chris Obure has announced his backing for Raila. Did we expect anything else from a man who is on guard, hoping that Raila gets the top seat and appoint him minister?

So, when it comes to him, we do not wish to discus his motive, because it is very clear. Any man who has enjoyed the flag swinging on the road to Kisii every weekend definitely misses it, it is a demotion just driving past Kericho without a noticeable flag. So it is all about creed.

There are many declarations in this world that come out once a few power hungry individuals sit together to strategize how to grab power.

Now we hear in the media, that something called Awendo Declaration has united Nyanza leaders, forcing them to sing Tinga Tinga Tosha! What a mess and a miss! Why do we have to have kingmakers who may end up behaving like Goliats Regiment in the Bible.

When there was Mau Mau rebellion in Kenya, it was said that people drunk blood in order to be loyal for ever, it is called a swearing of total loyalty and can also be a blind loyalty.

Now we have declarations – it is just a modern word with the same meaning as above. It is just because leaders read it out to the media at the end of the consultations!

But what really goes on behind the closed doors, before the media is allowed to scrutinise the wordings, is money, wine, and honey changing hands with handshakes that may cost one’s life if not adhered to.

One has to keep remembering the handshakes and what it meant. Of course the eating during the meeting is also done. And this is not one thing yo are allowed to simply forget. You eat and deliver the vote, as the saying goes.

Now they – the Awendo thing called declaration will ensure that all Nyanzarians, must vote as a block. Those who dare say no, like gentleman Raphael Tuju, Kenya’s foreign minister, or for that matter JUU TU, will be given hell by Awendorianism mentality, but he may rise above that and continue to be on the top – JU Tu na Tuju!

Raila urges Kenyans to support him. But he has chosen to do it in Nyanza. Yes, we have no quarrel with that. That is the beginning of what we wrote a few months ago that Raila will move the Capital of Kenya to Kisumu if elected president.

It will not surprise us if he even chooses Awendo, the birth of the declaration. That will accommodate the Kuria’s and Kisii’s who may not want to be Kisumurised.

Nobody has said Raila is not ready for the task, but he seems not to be sure. He keeps on telling the Kenyans that he is ready for the task. He says he will give the country justice through fairness. Ya, it may be so, but at what cost and what official language will we have in State House?

Langata’s MP for President is something many do not mind hearing, but Langata’s MP as president is something many hate to see, but we also know people can easily be bought. And promised to get more if they sell their vote.

After the election fever is over, that is when the reality dawns. No more money will be paid to them and they cannot change the results after the vote. They will have to wait in Awendo for the next five years.

Kibaki’s administration is accused by Raila from time to time. Yes we have got used to that. We simply do not understand the meaning of it anymore. Kibaki is a Statesman. The others are Rotarians in the wait.

We are also being reminded that politicians must not allow campaigning to turn too bloody. Why now, a year earlier. Is someone planning such a thing? Are there some people who are used to promotion of violence during elections in order to win votes by force?

No simple answers. But we know that there are some politicians who will encourage their supporters by using money or “D.r.u.n.k.i.n.g”, (making them drunk), them up before the next meeting. They will be too drunk to think and will only shout support in total blindness, so that the international media reports that the leader is popular, not knowing it is the breweries talking or hooligans shouting and not wise voters.

Kenyans must be very careful this time around: Vote in leaders your country will benefit from, instead of leaders who will stay most of their time in European capitals enjoying parties with secret concubines.

Mr Omingo Magara, a Kisii has done it all for Raila. Leading the Kisii people to him. What a tragedy for someone who is a good politician admired by many. What has he been promised now in Awendoline chapter?

Have the Kisii people been told the truth by their MP, on what implication the Awendo netting will have on their freedom to choose any leader they may want to choose at a later date? They have now been tied to Raila through the Awendo document.

We also hear that a professor – a whole professor , Prof Salima Chaacha and Magahiwa have fallen into the Awendo net with a group of Kuria people.

Nyambati Walter, a former Minister and Timothy Bosire are reported to have snicked in also.

Leaders united and appointed Mr Chris Bichage, to do the mouth-piece thing – read the statement. But did all, who attended the meeting, get the copies of the statement or it was only given to  a few individuals. Do not forget it can be altered to suit a few, should things go positive, of course that will not be to our satisfaction.

It is important to take a stand without fear and intimidation, and now we do. Kenyans must wake up, and do the right thing. Keep Raila out of State House.

Using the chiefs and assistant chiefs, DO’s and DC’s including the PC’s, the present government should be able to remain in power, and continue to help Kenyans to prosper. It is important to be a tough no-nonsense leader at times.

John Michuki, the Internal Security Minister did the right thing recently. Telling the Provincial administration to publicise the achievements of the Kibaki government. It should be done now and not later.

To Michuki, promote the workers in the provincial administration. Raise their salaries now without fear of criticism. That will give extra strength to publicise the government’s achievements. If the opposition accuse you of doing that, then remind them of the quick manner and speed they used when raising their own salaries in Parliament!

We also think, early campaigns should be stopped, and an early start to allow should be after the budget day in June next year.

Raila has said that if ODM-K gives him the flag, as their presidential candidate, he will be able to beat President Kibaki in the elections. Yes, we hear! But is he also not saying that the other ODM-K leaders are not capable to beat Kibaki?

It is always good to carefully listen to Raila’s ways of talking and formulations. Listen to what he is saying and scrutinise before you start chorusing positively!  Raila is a very brilliant man and plans well ahead of others. If things do not go well, he is the first to retreat by stating that it was misquotations.

Read the list of those who were in his company when he travelled to Awendo: Mr Owino Likowa, Mr Ochilo Ayacko, Mr Odhiambo Omamba and Mr Ochola Ogur, does it sound familiar and tribal to you, I mean the O’s? Why were there no Ngugi’s, Arapkiptei’s, Munyao’s and so on…..

Kibaki runs Kenya well, but we keep accusing him of his wife’s behaviour as if there are norms to follow in political behaviour. Politics is a game. And if you do not know how to play it, then you end up being played on! 

What are we seeing here: We have read that Raila’s wife Ida Odinga has started talking, attacking the Assistant minister for education Betty Mugo. Oh yes, we should not forget that she was recently jacked out of one organization that she led, and turned it to be her own private machinery.

She was reacting to Mugo’s statement on KCPE results in Nyanza. Of course, it is every woman’s right to support her husband.

Lucy Kibaki helps the husband a lot, and some politicians take offence of that. Let her give Kibaki, the husband the help he deserves. She is his trusted hand, especially when we all know that there are many wolves around him ready to bite.

But note who accompanied Raila’s wife! Another O? That is interesting, because we pretend not to tribalise things. But even a press conference, Kenyans, surely, Mrs Ida Odinga was accompanied by Prof Jacqueline Oduol. One of the O’s! Not that we dislike the O’s being present, No!

If Kenyan politicians say they are not tribal, then they sould stive to be accompanied by a combination of many Kenyan tribes, at least as a sign of unity. See Kibaki at times accompanied by Tuju’s, Mukhisa’s,Munyao’s and also Kirwa’s. We are trying to say it is important to look national.

Next year’s general elections in Kenya will be a thriller!

Active in sex, but transmitting no disease? Let us go crazy with safe “SEX”

The writer concludes: “Sex does the body good: Regular (even daily) romps can provide a host of physiological benefits!” But are you ready to go it safe?

Is sex cultural event? Bound by traditions and respect for the institution of sexual accomplishment!

The best that modern science can say for abstinence is that it’s harmless when practiced in moderation. “Saving yourself” before the big game, the big business deal, the big hoe-down or the big bake-off may indeed confer some moral advantage; but physiologically it does zip.

Having regular and enthusiastic sex, by contrast, confers a host of measurable physiological advantages, be you male or female. (This assumes that you are engaging in sex without contracting a sexually transmitted disease.)

In one of the most credible studies correlating overall health with sexual frequency, Queens University in Belfast tracked the mortality of about 1,000 middle-aged men over the course of a decade. The study was designed to compare people of similar age and health. Its findings, published in 1997 in the British Medical Journal, were that men who reported the highest frequency of orgasm enjoyed a death rate half that of the laggards. Other studies (some rigorous, some less so) purport to show that having sex even a few times a week has an associative or causal relationship with the following:
# Improved sense of smell: After sex, production of the hormone prolactin surges. This, in turn, causes stem cells in the brain to develop new neurons in the brain’s olfactory bulb, its smell center.
# Reduced risk of heart disease: In a 2001 follow-up to the Queens University study mentioned above, researchers focused on cardiovascular health. Their finding? That by having sex three or more times a week, men reduced their risk of heart attack or stroke by half.
# Weight loss, overall fitness: Sex, if nothing else, is exercise. A vigorous bout burns some 200 calories — about the same as running 15 minutes on a treadmill or playing a spirited game of squash. The pulse rate, in a person aroused, rises from about 70 beats per minute to 150, the same as that of an athlete putting forth maximum effort.

British researchers have determined that the equivalent of six Big Macs can be worked off by having sex three times a week for a year. Muscular contractions during intercourse work the pelvis, thighs, buttocks, arms, neck and thorax. Sex also boosts production of testosterone, which leads to stronger bones and muscles. Men’s Health magazine has gone so far as to call the bed the single greatest piece of exercise equipment ever invented.
# Reduced depression: A study of 293 women in 2002 had the same implications. American psychologist Gordon Gallup reported that sexually active participants whose male partners did not use condoms were less subject to depression than those whose partners did. One theory of causality: Prostaglandin, a hormone found only in semen, may be absorbed in the female genital tract, thus modulating female hormones.
# Pain relief: Immediately before orgasm, levels of the hormone oxytocin surge to five times their normal level. This, in turn, releases endorphins, which alleviate the pain of everything from headaches to arthritis to even migraines. In women, sex also prompts production of estrogen, which can reduce the pain of PMS.
# Less frequent colds and flu: Wilkes University in Pennsylvania says individuals who have sex once or twice a week show 30 percent higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A, which is known to boost the immune system.
# Better bladder control: Heard of Kegel exercises? You do them, whether you know it or not, every time you stem your flow of urine. The same set of muscles is worked during sex.
# Better teeth: Seminal plasma contains zinc, calcium and other minerals shown to hinder tooth decay. Since this is a family web site, we will omit discussion of the mineral delivery system. Suffice it to say that it could be a far richer, more complex and more satisfying experience than squeezing a tube of Crest — even Tartar Control Crest. Researchers have noted, parenthetically, that sexual etiquette usually demands the brushing of one’s teeth before and/or after intimacy, which, by itself, would help promote better oral hygiene.
# A happier prostate? Some urologists believe they see a relationship between infrequency of ejaculation and cancer of the prostate. The causal argument goes like this: To produce seminal fluid, the prostate and the seminal vesicles take such substances from the blood as zinc, citric acid and potassium, and then concentrate them up to 600 times. Any carcinogens present in the blood likewise would be concentrated. Rather than have concentrated carcinogens hanging around causing trouble, it’s better to evict them. A study published by the British Journal of Urology International asserts that men in their 20s can reduce, by a third, their chance of getting prostate cancer by ejaculating more than five times a week.

While possession of a robust appetite for sex — and the physical ability to gratify it — may not always be the cynosure of perfect health, a reluctance to engage can be a sign that something is seriously on the fritz, especially where the culprit is an infirm erection.

Can you have too much?
Dr. J. Francois Eid, a urologist with Weill Medical College of Cornell University and New York Presbyterian Hospital, observes that erectile dysfunction is an extension of the vascular system. A lethargic member may be telling you that you have diseased blood vessels elsewhere in your body. “It could be a first sign of hypertension or diabetes or increased cholesterol levels. It’s a red flag that you should see your doctor.” Treatment and exercise, says Dr. Eid, can have things looking up again: “Men who exercise and have a good heart and low heart rate, and who are cardio-fit, have firmer erections. There very definitely is a relationship.”

But is there such a thing as too much sex?

The answer, in purely physiological terms, is this: If you’re female, probably not. If you’re male? You betcha.

Dr. Claire Bailey of the University of Bristol says there is little or no risk of a woman overdosing on sex. In fact, she says, regular sessions can not only firm a woman’s tummy and buttocks but also improve her posture.

As for men, urologist Eid says it’s definitely possible to get too much of a good thing, now that drugs such as Viagra and Levitra have given men far more staying power than what may actually be good for them.

The penis, says Eid, is wonderfully resilient. But everything has its limits. Penile tissues, if given too roistering or prolonged a pummeling, can sustain damage. In cases you’d just as soon not hear about, permanent damage.

“I see it in pro football players,” says Eid. “They use Viagra because they’re so sexually active. What they demand of their body is unreasonable. It’s part of playing football: you play through the pain.” This type of guy doesn’t listen to his body. He takes a shot of cortisone, and keeps on going. And they have sex in similar fashion.”

What an adventure!

What is the suitable punishment for those who give HIV to others?

We know how dangerous HIV and Aids is to the society. We still do not react sternly to punish those who care less but infect the society with the disease.

Many countries will not advocate death sentencing but stern punishment like life sentence or a sentencing like that given to murderers.

In European countries it would be wrong, we now realise, to advocate death sentencing. And yet we want a punishment that will send a lasting signal to those who spread the disease intentionally.
Early this year in Kenya, a man by name, “Benzal Chepkwony wailed uncontrollably and attempted to escape from the dock after Molo Senior Resident Magistrate Richard Kirui pronounced the sentence.”

The Magistrate gave him 15 years in jail for defiling a minor and giving her HIV. Is this enough? When he comes out, what measures are there to stop him from spreading the disease again?

When the magistrate gave him time to tell the court how merciful it should be while sentencing him, “the 48-year-old man… instead went into a frenzy, tearing his clothes and weeping, taking court orderlies by surprise.”

Countries should agree on a sentencing that will be universal and use it to stop those murderers who use sexual contact as effective weapon.

We have to safe the citizens of this world. We have a responsibility and should not politicise the issue.

Dr Karanja’s argument that human rights forbid death sentencing is correct. Then it is equally important that we protect the human rights of the innocent who get infected without their knowledge. How it will be done in an acceptable way, is what nations should discus.

Unbelievable but then again, true!

Earlier this year it was reported that, “A Sudanese man”, was, “forced to take a goat as his “wife”, after he was caught having sex with the animal.”

The goat must have had it rough. That is animal molestation of the worst sort. He should not be forced to marry the goat, but rather banned from being around any goats at all!

What about the sheep and cows? We may joke about this, but in reality, very few people understand that goat, sheep and cows need protection form some crazy characters.

Do people also have sex with their pets?
“The goat’s owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders. They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi. We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together”, Mr Alifi said.

The goat owner was the goat’s defense counsel during the hearing of the case by the council of elders. The accused had no legal assistance during the hearing. “Mr Alifi, Hai Malakal in Upper Nile State, told the Juba Post newspaper that he heard a loud noise around midnight on 13 February and immediately rushed outside to find Mr Tombe with his goat.”

“When I asked him: ‘What are you doing there?’, he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up. Mr Alifi then called elders to decide how to deal with the case. They said I should not take him to the police, but rather let him pay a dowry for my goat because he used it as his wife,” Mr Alifi told the newspaper.”

Things people do in this world? Protect your goats.

Mr Rumsfeld, you are the only one I trust, bring me the body!

Is this the way any former head of state of any country should be treated in his last days on this earth? The former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, in humiliating moment in his cell waiting to be executed after the Americans captured him while hiding in a hole near his village town. Leaders, watch out! You could be next to be in pants without champaign around you! 

A tornado almost caused havoc in the ranch belonging to President George Bush. He was in his ranch in Texas when a tornado started in the area and he had to be evacuated to safety. Saddam Hussein, however, could not be evacuated to any kind of safety. He had to sit in his cell in Iraq waiting to be executed. He was executed this morning.

It has been reported that, “Mr Bush, his wife Laura and their two dogs Barney and Miss Beazley were taken by armoured car to a tornado shelter on the property, the White House said. However, the couple did not need to enter the shelter as the bad weather only lasted a short while.”

The bad weather lasted for a short while, the media has been told. So Bush did not need to hide in the shelter. In Saddam’s case, his execution took a few minutes.

While waiting to see if the tornado was going to increase in strength, “The couple and members of staff were in the vehicle for about 10 minutes. The tornado warning, issued by the National Weather Service, lasted for less than an hour.”

BBC reports that, “The rush to the tornado shelter interrupted President Bush’s day at the ranch where he was being kept abreast of plans in Iraq to execute the former leader, Saddam Hussein.”

<Was God sending a message to  Bush to have mercy with Saddam>? President Bush is happy to have been rescued from a tornado during Saddam’s day of execution. The President in turn rescued his black beautiful dog from the same tornado that threatened his life, and let a human life, that of Saddam, a former head of state just like Bush is, to be taken away today by hanging! The world is full of choices and surprises. Please ship Saddam’s dead body to me in the White house. Want a monument!

BUSH to> Mr Rumsfeld: Go check if this guy is really dead! We can’t trust anybody on this at all. I must be sure he is really gone. But Rum, do not let me be shipped to Iraq, whether in Pants or not. Ship me to my dear Texas ranch when I die, says George!

RUMSFELD> to Bush: Got him ready to ship him to you sir, but should I also ship weapons of mass destruction to the White House sir?

BUSH to Rumsfeld: No, we do not know how to use them. How do they look like actually? We may press the wrong button and blow up the White House.

Former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein executed!

<BBC reports that Saddam, “in his last defiance refused to wear a hood.”

It is now confirmed that Saddam Hussein was executed today morning at 06.00 hours.

He was hanged at a secure facility in northern Baghdad for crimes against humanity. The news was confirmed to the BBC by the Iraqi deputy foreign minister.

BBC quotes the Iraqi TV confirming, “the execution took place just before 0600 local time (0300GMT). A representative of the prime minister and a Sunni Muslim cleric were present.”

Others will follow soon. “Two co-defendants, Saddam Hussein’s half-brother and a former chief judge, are to be executed at a later date. All three were sentenced to death by an Iraqi court on 5 November after a year-long trial over the 1982 killings of 148 Shias in the town of Dujail.”

As evidence  that Saddam was being killed the Iraqi government allowed, “a small group of Iraqis witnessed the execution at an Iraqi compound known by the Americans as Camp Justice, a secure facility in the northern Baghdad suburb of Khadimeya. They watched as a judge read out the sentence to Saddam Hussein. The former Iraqi leader was carrying a copy of the Koran and asked for it to be given to a friend.”

Before taking him to hang, “The noose was then placed around his neck. When the hangman stepped forward to put the hood over his head, Saddam Hussein made it clear he wanted to die without it. The execution took just a few minutes.”

To the world that is waiting curiously to know the truth of what has happened today, “Video footage of the execution is expected to be released as final proof of Saddam Hussein’s demise although it is expected to stop short of showing the actual death.”

Violence is expected due to mixed reactions in Iraq. “US troops and Iraqi security forces are on high alert for any violent backlash. The US State Department has urged all its embassies to increase security.”

The US president George Bush has now completed what he set to accomplished, to take Saddam out of power and then ensure he is put to death.

This should serve as a warning to other world leaders who misuse power thinking they are untouchable.

Violence will not stop, Bush said and it is true many more lives will be lost because of the religious divisions. Sunni’s might answer their anger with violence. Shites are happy because, according to them, the majority in the country were persecuted by Saddam’s government.

This is not far from what happened in Rwanda when the Hutu’s massacred the Tutsi’s in 1994.

Britain has arrested four Rwandese in the UK who are wanted by the Rwandese government in Rwanda.

Kenyan woman strangled to death in the UK!

It has been reported that, “a Kenyan woman was strangled to death at their home in the UK last week. According to British media reports, Mrs Eunice Wambui Balcombe, was found dead at her house on Stratton road, Pewsey on Thursday. Her husband has since been charged in court for her death and remanded in custody.”

The woman, who is 43 years old, “was born in Redhill, Limuru  and moved to the UK in 1997. She leaves behind three children aged 14, eight and five years. Wiltshire police  investigating  the murder. An independent body called the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPPC) is monitoring the investigations.”

The Commission has the power to to monitor investigations of this kind to avoid partiality by the police investigators.

The Nation reports that, “officers had visited Mrs Balcombe’s home the day before her death. “Due to the close proximity of contact with the police prior to this incident occurring, the IPCC has been informed,” a Wiltshire Police spokesman was quoted in a website run by Kenyans living in the UK.”

Those close to the murdered woman, “are struggling to come to terms with the death. She had been married to her husband for nine years. A UK newspaper quoted her eldest daughter Mumbi as saying: “She was my best friend, words can’t sum up what my mum was like”, adding that, “Whatever we wanted even if she had to struggle and work hard, she would make sure we had it because all she wanted was for us to be happy. Even when she started at university she was worried more about us than getting grades.”

The woman had started, “a work placement at the Ridgeway hospital in Wroughton and was studying nursing at the Oxford Brookes campus in Swindon.”

Now the childeren she left behind are reported to be staying with “family friends identified as Dr Joe Sang and his wife Betty in Marlborough.”

This is tragic. If the husband is involved in the murder of his wife, this should wake up African women married to the whites in Britain so that they execise caution at all times.

Many women who leave their countries and get marrin foreign countries to foreigners have to undergo a lot of problems due to cultural differences.

Some man who bring women from African would like to lock them indoors to avoid the women getting acquianted with other Africans who might guide them into understanding the country and how to go about things.

The reason for the killing has not been released by the police.

Norway: A 90 year-old man hit by a car in Vennesla.

A 90 year-old man was hit by a reversing vehicle in Vennesla market, Southern Norway. The police decided to withdraw the driver’s licence immediately.

A police lawyer on duty, in Agder Police District, during the time of the accident took the decision on the withdrawal of the licence. The boss in charge of operations in the region Mr Borge Steinsland has told the media.

The accident happened around 13.00 hours on Friday. The driver, a 64 year old man will now have difficulties to get back his licence due to his old age.

The 90 year old man was rushed to the hospital for treatment. He was hurt on the leg.

Tribute to Singer Brown

<James Brown dies at 73.

  

It has been reported that thousands fo fans paid their last tribute in an assembly in New York to the Godfather of soul James Brown who died on Monday.

The media reports that he, “was carried in a gold coffin through the streets of Harlem on a horse-drawn carriage while well-wishers danced and sang his hits in tribute to the singer.”

At the auditorium, “fans marched past his casket on the stage where he made his 1956 debut. Brown wore a blue suit, white gloves and silver shoes. Brown’s close friend Reverend Al Sharpton said, “This man stood for us, the common man. It was James Brown that with one song erased the word negro from our vocabulary forever and made us say it and say it loud, that we were black and we were proud. We didn’t line these streets because he had hits. Plenty of people had hits but none got them on their own terms. He never bent, buckled or bowed. He never diluted his music.”

Before burial a private ceremony will be held for family and friends. He will be buried in Augusta, Georgia, his hometown today Saturday.

Brown paid tribute by singer Usher!

R&B heart-throb Usher has paid tribute to his idol and friend James Brown, hailing the funk legend as “in a class by himself”.

The stars duetted at the 2005 Grammys and Usher was honoured when Brown dubbed him ‘The Godson Of Soul’.

Usher, 28, says, “It couldn’t have been more of a pleasure to be recognized by James Brown. James Brown introduced me to soul. Because of him I was given a clear view of what a real performance is and should be. I learned showmanship from him. Mr Brown was in a class by himself. Man, when he called me the ‘Godson of Soul,’ I damn near fell out backstage. Truth be told, I was so excited while on stage that I didn’t even know that he gave me that name. It wasn’t until I was backstage in my dressing room and someone from my staff told me he named me that. Then I actually saw a replay of the awards show.”

Brown died on Christmas Day after contracting pneumonia.

Kenyans in drugs

People who want to get rich quick use many methods to do so. It has been reported that, “two Kenyan seafarers held in Mauritius for allegedly trafficking in heroine were arrested on dry land or what is commonly referred as ‘shore leave’. Mauritius police claim they found them with 800 grammes of heroine.”

The two who have been arrested, “Mr Onesmus Kinda and Mr Rashid Salim Bajiji were working aboard the Mombasa based liner, Ms Royal Star, which plies the Indian Ocean islands on cruise itineraries year round.”

These were new worker’s in the company and they decided to make quick cash ilegally. “African Safari Club (ASC) director, Mr Renato Bachman, said the two had been in the firm’s employment for less than a year. Bachman said the firm had received information on the arrests and was liaising with the vessel’s local ground-handling agents, Inchcape Shipping, to contact family members.”

The two will now face stiff sentence, and lose their jobs. “ASC group, which owns a chain of hotels and lodges in the country, provides clients to the ship and services that include ground and technical services. The 5,600-tonne vessel is owned by Starline Cruises. Seafarers Assistance Programme Kenya coordinator, Mr Andrew Mwangura, said from London that the two were being held at a police station in Port Louis.”
