Ready for 1/16 Finals in Champions league

Posted by African Press International on December 7, 2006

Many agree with me that apart from the world cup, in the champions league we get to see football at its finest moments with the best teams in the world!

We got to see a few highlightsof what is yet to come this week especially yesterday when Manchester United took on Benfica at Old Trafford stadium. They were under 1-0 to Benfica with a wonderful presentation from the right wing defender Nelson, who shot the ball directly and well placed to the top right corner of the Netherland’s keeper.

This just awakened the “reds” who keept pounding the Portuguese side and managed to equalize a minute to end of the first halv after a perfect free-kick by Giggs adressed to Vidic who had played a very good first half.

After the break, it was all “United”, with spectacular dribbling and team work of the players sending the Portuguese down 2-1 by Giggs and finally 3-1 by Saha.

This placed them at the top of the table with surprise team Celtic as runners up though they were defeated by a hard working Danish side. (Køvenhaven.)

Now we await the draw on the 15 of December at the headquarters, on which teams will meet after each other.

At the top of the table (group 1) we have,
Chelsea, Bayern, Liverpool, Valencia, Lyon, Man.U, Arsenal and Milan. These teams will not meet each other, but will play one of the teams who are runners-up.

These are Barcelona, Milano, Psv Eindhoven, Roma, Real madrid, Celtic, Porto and Lille.

These are the best teams in Europe at the moment with players from all over the world working together to achieve victory.

Manchester might draw with Barcelona, which is a possibility.Whatever the case, the way to Athens will surely be challenging for all.
The next games are on 20-21 of february and 6-7 of march.

Norway: Former county police chief cleared of rape!

Posted by African Press International on December 7, 2006

Former Kautokeino county head of police who was accused by a woman, who alleged he had raped her in the 80’s, has been cleared of the charge by the special police unit that investigates police cases.

He was cleared on Thursday due to lack of evidence in the case.

The woman’s advocate, Ingunn Tøllefsen says her client is disappointed that the man has been cleared of the rape.

The former officer has always denied the charge.

The woman has not decided whether to go further with the case.

Rape cases in Norway can be brought up after many years, and if the victim has evidence, the rapist will be charged with the offence.

Norway: A political party leader wants Imams to be forced to learn Norwegian!

Posted by African Press International on December 7, 2006

The Christian Democratic Party leader Dagfinn Høybråten, would like to work for change of the laws in Norway so that Imams and other religious leaders coming to work in Norway must learn Norwegian language.

Høybråten was in the UK on a study tour to learn from the British. The UK changed the rules sometimes back, forcing the Imams to learn English if they choose to work in Britain.

He says the Imams and other religious leaders have great influence on their followers.

He believes that the move will help with the integration of cultures in the country

To demand that leaders coming to work in Norway, and especially Imams teaching their followers in their own language is to go too far.

Let us imagine if African countries demanded that Norwegians working in Africa through Norad- the Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation, must be forced to learn the African languages in order to be allowed to work.

Norway takes the norwegian language, a language spoken by a small population of under 4 million people in the whole universe, to be so important than other languages.

Why force people to learn the language if they do not need it in order to perform their jobs?

Norwegian missionaries in African countries are not forced to learn the languages there. They speak Norwegian language or English when preaching and the locals translate what they say to local languages.

Should they also be forced to learn the local languages before they preach to their African christian followers?

What Mr Høybråten is bringing up is very discriminatory.

Sudan: President Bashir takes over as ACP head!

Posted by African Press International on December 7, 2006

President Bashir on Sudanese TV in November 2003<Sudanese President, General Omar al-Bashir)

“Sudanese leader Omar el Bashir is the new president of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group of nations.,” Kenya standard reports

The US and EU has always criticised Sudanese President. ACP nations seems not to have problems with Sudan now that they have elected him as leader. This cannot go down well with USA, a country that would like see Bashir out of power in Sudan. “Bashir was endorsed on Thursday by representatives from 79 countries at the ongoing 5th Summit of the ACP Heads of State in Khartoum, Sudan. He took over the leadership of the group from President Armando Emilio Guebuza of Mozambique, whose two-year term has expired.
Guebuza was elected to head the organisation during the fourth Summit of the ACP Heads of State in Maputo in 2004. In his farewell message, Guebuza warned that relations between ACP nations and the EU was at a crossroads and needed to be reviewed urgently.”

Speaking when handing over to Bashir, the outgoing leader of ACP told the gathering in Khartoum that, ”To avoid misunderstanding, we should not be terrorised by deadlines as far as the implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreements with the EU and other trading partners are concerned.”

Blacks as the Original race!

Posted by African Press International on December 7, 2006

Late 20th century: Blacks as the original race.
One version> Be proud. If black be more proud! I have always said we may have been a little slow in the last 100-200yrs but it was because we had it all!

WE STRETCHED OUR HANDS AND MANGOES AND FRUITS LANDED. WE DIDNT HAVE TO THINK HOW TO OVERCOME THE WINTER. iVE NOTICED IM LITTLE LIGHTER SINCE I CAME TO THIS COUNTRY. CHECK THIS OUT AND TELL ME IM WRONG!

“Charles Darwin was perhaps the first to publicly speculate that Africa was the cradle of human kind. Because apes are very similar to humans and live in Africa, he believed that this was probably where humans evolved. However biblical views were still dominant at the start of the enlightenment. Blumenbach believed that humans were originally white, having populated the world after the Biblical flood from Mount Ararat (at the modern Turkey/Iran border).[2]

In the post-Darwin era, Carleton Coon postulated in his Multiregional hypothesis that people living in different regions of the world evolved into anatomically modern humans (AMH) independently. He hypothesised that Caucasoids evolved before other human populations (and were therefore the most advanced AMH). In this hypothesis Caucasoid people would be seen as the first AMHs.

Forensic reconstruction of an African skeleton dated at 160,000 years ago, these are the oldest Homo sapiens remains ever discoveredRecent evidence has made the Multiregional hypothesis increasingly obsolete, the dominant modern hypothesis is the Recent single-origin hypothesis which postulates that all modern humans are descended from a small African population that existed about 200,000 years ago, in this model all humans fully evolved into Homo sapiens recently, and represent a very recent and genetically similar species. In this model the first AMHs may well have been black people because they likely evolved in the same African environment that produced the black race as we know it today. Be that as it may, by definition all modern humans are equally related to original AMHs.[24] The academic Steve Olson argues that since all modern humans lived in Africa until 60,000 years ago, there simply hasn’t been enough time for important genetic differences to evolve, and that all living races are exceedingly similar.[25] “We’re all Africans under the skin” says geneticist Spencer Wells[26]

Whereas Coon claimed that Caucasoid people were more “advanced” because they evolved first, the psychologist J. Phillipe Rushton has argued the opposite, that because African people were the first people, they are superior in “primitive traits”, like size of genitalia, salience of muscles and buttocks, and reproductive output. On the other hand other human populations are superior in more “advanced traits”, like brain size and social organization. He theorises that people from East Asia evolved most recently in a challenging ice age environment and are therefore the “most advanced”.[27] While there is little modern scientific evidence to support Coon’s evolutionary ideas, Rushton’s ideas are not seen as scientifically valid by many biologists, geneticists or anthropologists. (see Race, Evolution and Behavior) Geneticist David Suzuki challenged Rushton’s views during a live televised debate saying:

I do not believe that we should dignify this man and his ideas in public debate. His claims must be denounced, his methodology discredited, his grant revoked and his position terminated at this university. This is not science.[28]

Nathan Hare suggests the following anthem:

“I, the Black Man, am the original man, the first man to walk this vast and imponderable earth. I, the black man, am an African, the exotic, single, quintesence of a universal blackness…the first truly human being the world has ever known.”[16]

Some scientists speculate that black people lost their dark skin colour because the selective pressure in temperate regions was for subcutaneous vitamin D production rather than protection from strong sunlight. Consumers of primarily vegetarian diets found insufficient dietary sources of vitamin D in Northern climates, which were therefore unavailable for colonization until a mutation developed that limited skin pigmentation and thereby promoted vitamin D synthesis.[29]

Interpreting such findings, in 1993, black nationalists stated “white people are genetic mutations of black people. Only black women can claim all the genetic material necessary to create other races”Elijah Muhammad of the Nation of Islam echoes such themes: “The original man, Allah, is none other than the black man. The black man is the first and last, maker and owner of the universe. From him came all brown, yellow, red, and white people.

African men, be on the look out!

Posted by African Press International on December 7, 2006

The following is the story of Mr Oprong, not his real name, but it might as well be a story of many of the Africans who have been charged and jailed for allegedly raping Norwegian women.

Three years ago Mr Oprong decided to go out on a weekend and visit one of the nightclubs in Trondheim. He arrived at the club at around midnight and bought himself a glass of cold beer.

Mr Oprong believes that it was at 2pm when a blond woman asked him for a dance. He quickly agreed to dance with her and was very happy when he was invited to join her friends.

At 3.30pm when the club was closing Mr Oprong was asked if he wanted to join the woman for a late night drink at her place. Being in a festive mood he replied that he would be happy to.

When they arrived in her flat, Mr Oprong was served with a full glass a local potent drink that can be lethal if taken in large quantities. He recalls being told, “Are you not a man? Finish your drink!”

He tells APN that by the second glass he had blacked out. He remembers being woken up by the woman who was shaking him and screaming,
“My boyfriend is coming together with his skinhead friends! Run! They are coming to kill you!”

Mr Oprong says he was confused and his head seemed to be on fire. There was a lot of commotion in the flat as the woman pushed him around smashing the furniture around the room.
In this confusion Mr Oprong was thrown out of the flat and found himself running in the streets, which many witnesses later could confirm. The police picked him up a few minutes later.
Mr Oprong was found guilty and sentenced to two years and is soon to be deported out of the country. The woman was awarded a huge sum of money by the court which believed her claim that the incident had destroyed her life and she could not be able to work anymore.

The soon to be deported African says the woman claims that the sight of a black man is enough to make her start shaking and since Trondheim has now been flooded by Africans the only place she feels safe is in her flat.

This week an African is in court charged with rape. The picture one gets after hearing the accused speak is almost the same painted by Mr Oprong.

African men should therefore be on the look out!
