Darfur – the Sudanese politics!

Posted by African Press International on October 7, 2006

The situation in Darfur has deteriorated and will continue so while leaders are politicking.

When the Sudanese UN mission issues letters stating that his government will consider the deployment of peacekeepers in Darfur an act of hostility by international community, it is questionable as to who he is representing.

The sudanese foreign minister seems to have a different opinion as he states that the diplomat in question has come out with his own views.

It is, however, difficult to understand why the envoy decided to send out such a letter if he has not fully consulted with his boss Mr Lam Akol.

KANU, the former ruling party in Kenya undecided

Posted by African Press International on October 7, 2006

KANU (Kenya African National Union) seems to doubt ODM-Kenya. The former ruling party is divided into fractions. Those who are already in ODM-K, those who wish to join ODM-K, yet they want to bargain first on what they will get should they join ODM-K and those who are die-hard KANUs who are totally against ODM-K.

KANU must understand that the future for Kenya is ODM-K. Those in KANU who are insisting in bargaining are not thinking of the welfare of the Kenyan people, but only what they will be given as a reward in positions if ODM-K takes power.

Mr Biwott, the “TOTAL MAN” is one of those playing politics of wait and see! Together with his group, Biwott did the same during the referendum last year. He decided not to take sides because at the time he had high hopes to be invited to a ministerial position by President Kibaki.

According to the standard newspaper, Gideon Moi, a member of parliament who is former president Moi’s son does not want to join ODM-K without bargaining as he talks of having KANU in the background for him and others to fall back to in-case they do not get the guarantees they so wish or if disunity cripples ODM-K.
