How long was your longest sex dry spell? Two weeks? One year? Perhaps, through a series of unfortunate events, you went from having constant sexcapades to dealing with blue balls for what seemed like forever and a day.

In the course of a dry spell, things can get so bad that most people resort to getting to know themselves more intimately to satisfy their sex appetite.

However, that only offers momentary gratification. You spend every waking moment longing for that moment when you will have sex with someone else other than yourself again.

Inability to secure a sex partner for an extended period of time is referred to as a dry spell or sex drought. Everybody endures a dry spell every now and then, sometimes for a very long time. There is no fixed time span that is considered a typical dry spell.

It varies from one person to another. Two weeks may be considered a dry spell by some people. For others, it may be three months.

Sex is part and parcel of being human, so after finding yourself going without intimacy for a prolonged length of time, you start to freak out and wonder: Is this normal? Am I losing my game?

Well, the good news is, it is very normal and you are certainly not alone. People do not go around announcing to all and sundry that they haven’t been intimate in a long time. So, calm down, you are not a freak.

You are just undergoing the highs and lows that make up a typical dating life. What you’re going through is completely normal and, most importantly, not permanent. The bad news is, dry spells suck. Period!

Dry spells are very agitating. You feel like a sex leper because, as far as you can tell, other people are getting laid on the regular.

You reckon that you are a hot piece. Women should be tripping over themselves to get to you! As time goes by with still no sex, you become desperate.

You start to lower your standards. You start contacting everyone who has had sex with you in the past. I mean, if they agreed to it once, they could save the day again, right? If that doesn’t work, you start considering taking a late night stroll down Koinange Street.

So, how do you survive a dry spell? When weathering a dry spell, it is important to shift your mind to other things besides your inability to score.

Settle on a hobby, concentrate on your career, do anything and everything that has nothing to do with you getting laid.

You would be surprised to learn that this might be the most productive time of your life. Take the attention off women and put it on yourself. You never know.

While you are busy building muscles at the gym, you could get the attention of the girls there and that may lead to a pleasant ending for you.

The unfortunate thing about men who are experiencing a dry spell is that they try too hard. It turns off women. Women can sense men who are thirsty and just looking for sex.

Sex is not the be-all and end-all of life. You can have a fulfilling life even when no sex is coming your way.

When times get tough, just remember the law of diminishing demand: once you’ve had too much of a good thing, you gradually enjoy it less. The longer a dry spell lasts, the more you’ll enjoy sex when you finally get it.
