A school in Nyakach in Kisumu County was today thrown into mourning following the death of its headteacher who committed suicide.
The late George Otieno hanged himself at his house within the school compound.
Only recently, his school -Nyabondo boarding primary hit the headlines after its classrooms were burnt down three times. The cause of the fires which left a trail of destruction was never established.
However what has shocked the locals is the handwritten note the former headmaster left behind.
He is accusing senior people from the county, including a local MP and top directors at the ministry of education and TSC as the people who were behind his woes.
He claims in the note that despite informing the relevant authorities at the sub county and also at the county level about his alleged frustrations, nothing was done.
The deceased said in the suicide note that he couldn’t be transferred to a school in Seme , far away from the present subcounty .
In the note he appeals to immediate former Nyakach MP Ochieng Daima to help educate his children.
Could this suicide have been prevented if the issues that the late teacher raised were addressed? Was he listened to by the people he worked under and whom he allegedly reached out to for help?
