Posted by African Press International on March 2, 2014
It remains unclear whether or not the Orange Democratic Movement, ODM, party will hold its national governing council meeting Monday morning to deliberate on the way forward in the aftermath of Friday’s failed elections. This is after the faction comprising Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba, Mombasa governor Hassan Joho and Turkana governor Josphat Nanok termed the planned NGC, Illegal. The Ababu – team insists that they were duly elected through acclamation as candidates were being introduced, and would take over the running of Orange house come Monday morning. The other faction led by nominated senator Agnes Zani, Funyula MP Paul Otuoma and Homabay senator Otieno Kajwang’ has in the meantime demanded the immediate disbandment of the entire ODM party secretariat, accusing it of mismanaging the elections. The party’s national elections board has asked all candidates to refrain from making utterances and declarations that could further polarise the party.
