Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Two battalions of Rwandan and Nigerian troops are expected to be deployed in the troubled Darfur region of Sudan beginning Wednesday, APA learnttoday.

A senior African Union military official said the two countries will send a total of 1,800 troops beginning today and tomorrow.

The deployment will be completed before the end of this month, the official said.

Rwanda and Nigeria previously pledged to contribute two battalions to the African Union mission in Sudan.
