Monrovia (Liberia) A former speaker in the erstwhile power-sharing government headed by charles Gyude Bryant has been picked up by state security in connection with a plot to overthrow the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf led government.

A National Security Agency source told APA Friday that George Korkor was arrested Thursday and is answering some questions in connection with his involvement in the coup plot.

Th source who preferred anonymity, said several officials in the present government have been linked to the coup plot and are to be picked soon.

He became speaker of the National Transitional Legislature in 2003, when the then speaker, George Dweh was booted out for acts incompatible with his status.

The Korkor family is at the same time calling on the government to take Mr. Korkor to court if it believes it has a case against him.

The National Security Agency Wednesday night released a video clipping in Monrovia showing Charles Julu now in police custody and others discussing plans to overthrow the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf-led government.

The meeting among the suspected coup planners reportedly took place in the Ivorian border town of Guiglo.

The others are the commander of slain President Samuel Does presidential guard Charles Julu, former Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL)Colonel Andrew Dorbor, Colonel Wolo Nagbe also of the disbanded AFL, and another former AFL officer Junior Gaye.
