Posted by africanpress on October 15, 2008

The Western Sahara issue is gaining a “new momentum” courtesy of Morocco’s autonomy initiative, Portuguese Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Joao Gomes Cravinho said.

Speaking last weekend to MAP reporters on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Marrakech Cultural Days in Silves (290km south from Lisbon), the Portuguese diplomat said it was “essential to continue the dialogue” to peacefully settle the Sahara issue.

Addressing the relations between Morocco and the European Union (EU), Cravinho reiterated his country’s support of a special status to Morocco.
