CBK APPOINTMENTS NOT ON MERIT
Kenyans,
In my opinion the problem is that CBK appointments are not merit based. Mr. Nyangito is an agricultural economists with no prior experience in monetary and fiscal affairs, why should he be at the CBK? There are so many capable Kenyan Economists with Fiscal amd
monetary expertise to manage the institution.
Competence of those folks at the helm of CBK is highly questionable.Any serious economist can detect this, the research department is quite dormant. Globally central banks are knowledge
factories in country specific macroeconomic and financial markets issues and do have have active and relevant knowledge creating research departments. At the CBK, they value desk officers!
