I am truly proud of our Kikuyu history - Kenya

Posted by africanpress on October 13, 2007

Hi!
I am Mugikuyu too and truly proud of our long history
of struggle against injustice. What many of us want is
the infrastructure to build profitable businesses and
give employment to our children(both Kikuyu and non
Kikuyu).

Whether Kibaki or Raila delivers the good
roads, electricity, water and international
connectivity is immaterial! What is material, though,
is when either of them  spreads fear such that   we
all forget we are Kenyans and demoniaze each other!

During the referendum we were portrayed as ‘them’
against ‘the rest’,during Moi’s long reign they wrote
of ‘a certain tribe’. The colonialists isolated us
from the rest and ‘gulagged’ us. We can proudly say we
are seasoned fighters for our rights which ever tribe
produces a president. When Jomo went off track we
shouted, Moi went completely off track and we
screamed!

Nothing, absolutely nothing can steal that heritage
from us!

How to use microcurrent electro acupuncture/color light therapy to deal with extreme cases

Posted by africanpress on October 13, 2007

Hey this is Therese Skelly and I do marketing for Dr. Darren Starwynn, O.M.D.  We were discussing trends with acupuncturists recently, and in the conversation, something fascinating came up.  Having taught seminars around the country for the last 15 years, Darren shared with me that many acupuncturists work too hard, have an up hill battle getting new patients, and often aren’t making enough money.

These folks are dedicated, give  fantastic care to their patients, but they don’t know how to build a business, so they often end up struggling, or at the very least having to work way too many hours to create the income level they desire.

We noticed a couple of things…we can teach a new way of thinking and introduce services which are easy to sell and much more lucrative, so you can work less, and make more money.

Here is what Dr. Starwynn teaches… how to use microcurrent electro acupuncture/color light therapy to deal with extreme cases, get faster and better results, and how to tap into the billion dollar baby boomer market by offering non needle facial rejuvenation.

Acupuncturists who are using microcurrent create more satisfied patients and find word of mouth referrals happening easily, so they are attracting new business faster.

Why I’m writing is because we just realized that Dr. Starwynn has written a lot of stuff that we should share with you. I found have a report we have here…it’s not all high tech, so if you just send me a quick email and I’ll make sure we dash that off so you can learn how using Microcurrent can add $2,000-$5,000 to your practice monthly.

In the next few weeks, we have our 2007 Microcurrent Electro-Acupuncture Vibrational Medicine Symposium coming, where you can learn how to use microcurrent/color light technology, psycho-emotional techniques, facial rejuvenation, and breakthrough marketing strategies so you can create a profitable business.

Here’s our goal for you.  We want you to be financially, emotionally, and spiritually healthy.  If you have a business that serves many people but leaves you drained, that doesn’t work.  We’d love to see you have your needs taken care of because, as you know, when we as healers are ‘full’ we can pass that onto our patients.

So if you want to check out one of our seminars, go to:

All my best,

Therese Skelly

Reserving public offices for family members? Is this good fo Kenya

Posted by africanpress on October 13, 2007

Dear Kenyan Voters,

I would like to learn what Kenyans think of the trend where public offices are becoming the reserve of certain families. Are Kenyans voting on quality of leaders or are family titles more important. Will reserving seats for families help improve this country? Aren’t we just worshiping the wealth of these families and giving them the chance to protect what they have? I would like Kenyans to explore this agenda with a very open mind.

If you can, please add to the details below

  1. Moi Family Old man left for son Gideon. Jonathan also wants to be an MP
  2. Kenyata – Uhuru took over father’s seat. Other family members like Peter Muigai and Ngengi Muigai have also been occupants of the seat. At. Are we saying leadership genes are unique to this family?
  3. Odinga Family Raila odinga, Oburu Odinga. Both riding on the family name. A number of Luo nyanza MPs said to be cousins and family members.
  4. Mudavadi’s son took seat formerly held by father. This was straight from college yet the man had not yet displayed any qualities unless leadership qualities are inherited. Can a person from Nyanza elaborate on the details of the family seats in Nyanza?
  5. Nyaga Family Norman Nyaga took over from the father and then later launched himself to Kamukunji courtesy of DP which was owned by his father’s buddies. Joseph Nyaga later took the seat. Are leadership qualities in Mbeere only confined to this family?
  6. The Mwendwas Several family members have been occupying that seat. Can no other person lead this area or have the Mwendwas family made it a family seat. Kaluki Ngilu is also said to be related to the same family (can someone confirm)
  7. Nick Salat Occupies the seat the father once held (can someone confirm)
  8. Mirugi Kariuki son seat took seat after father died. What leadership qualities did the man have in order to qualify for this seat?
  9. Jane Kihara took the seat after husband died. Talk of a case of leadership genes attracting each other so that spouses are sharing the attributes to be elected leaders.
  10. Mohamed Galgalo’s brother took seat after he died. Had he displayed any special qualifications and if so, are these unique to the family.
  11. Katana Ngala’s son took seat formerly held by father.
  12. Cecily Mbarire’s father was MP for Manyata. Implication is that she must have inherited the genes to be an MP from her father hence the current leaders had to nominate her.
  13. Hussein Sasura took over seat left brother Abdi Sasura
  14. Please add on.

Others aiming seats considered family seats include

  1. The Kuguru family in Mathira, Nyeri
  2. The Wamalwa family (father was senator, son mp) -and now both brother and wife competing for the seat.
  3. Peter Ngoyoni’s wife vied for the seat after death of husband
  4. Sarah Godana’s wife vied for the seat after death of husband. Wife finally elected to EA assembly.
  5. Mulinge’s son said to be eying seat formerly held by father
  6. Moody rumored to plan retirement and leave seat to son
  7. Ouma Muga said to be eyeing seat formerly held by father
  8. Add on.

Reflect and vote wisely

To all our beloved Kenyans - elections around the corner

Posted by africanpress on October 13, 2007

It is indeed my desire to share with you my opinion and support to the recent controversial Raila’s vision to heal Kenya, through the implementation of truth and reconciliation initiatives (Usawa), by un-veiling  the very many past ills which has made Kenyans tribes to live under suspension for decades. More importantly the Ndungu Report on land grafts, political assassinations and economical crimes.

It is very hypocritical for certain quarters of Raila’s supporters to retreat from pressing forward in backing him in this tasks, which is meant to bring long and awaited lasting healing in Kenya ethnic groups wounds. Whereas all the land grabbers, political murderers and economical criminals must be brought to justice through their own confession and the production of living evidences.

I read with grave regrets, the cosmetic and unrealistic theoretic arguments from the Kenyan diaspora and homeland academicians circles, that Raila should not touch such sensitive issues before he is elected, for they think this may interfere with his victory.(If this is so, then the former South African President, Nelson Mandela regime stand to be judged). Raila’s leadership direction is of a statesman who is set to heal the wounds of the land and make legacy in the history of African Political hiracy second from that of Nelson Mandela.

Certainly, these group have no idea of how many millions of Kenyans are landless, because of the late Jomo Kenyatta, former President Moi and the current government regime, which cause them to be born landless and without dignity, after killing or forcing their ancestors out of their own ancestral land, and are today living as squatters in their own land.

Should Raila seek these few grabbers and the economical criminals votes to his side or the oppressed and landless voters? What about those who were assassinated without cause ? What of the thousands Kenyans massacred in ethnic cleansing and land clashes ? If ODM is not ready to solve these pressing national and international crimes against humanity in Kenya, then we must prepare for continuity of struggle even after the election 2008. (aluta continua)

Raila should continue following the path of Truth and Reconciliation, and set up a working Justice system for the children and grandchildren whom the late Kenyatta, Moi and Kibaki governments rendered their parents landless and were born under such cruel inhuman conditions.

Raila’s government must bring to book the murderers and economical criminals, through implementing all the past funded government inquiries, in the spirit of Justice for all.

It is unfortunate that the same school of thoughts, who are now criticizing Raila, were the same group who stood against us when we were pushing for Raila to ride on Majimbo popular vehicle, calling as separatists. Today, they have again merged, in different colors with unpopular confusing tactics, to demoralized the strength of our bargaining authority to Majimbo sympathizers grassroots voters, by classified academic cyber debate theories of the elites capitalist philosophies.

Let them be assured that Raila is leading on the Kenyan opinion poll because he has identified himself with underprivileged Kenyan masses, who want to see their social welfare changed today and for their generation to come. Let them be warned that no amount of intimidation or arm twisting shall stop the masses from demanding these human fundamental rights now and after general election 2008.

Kenyans are looking forward for Majimbo Political and Economical Constitution enactment within Six Months after ODM takes the office 2008.

We are also looking forward for the late Kenyatta’s, Moi’s and Kibaki’s families and all their beneficiaries to return all the land they grabbed across the country to the rightful owners plus freezing of the funds looted and assets in foreign land.

(unedited)

(Kenyatta was a land grabber, said Jaramogi, in 1980’s when he was appointed the chairman of Kenya Cotton Board Link. Immediately he was sacked by Moi and Kibaki)

The Kikuyu Fatigue

Posted by africanpress on October 13, 2007

Commentary by Kiema:
A Certain Mr, talked about the Kikuyu Fatigue.  I was waiting to hear what you guys might have to comment about, especially with what he talked about as the key issue with Kenyan Mission to the UN. It is indeed a shame if that is what Mr. Zacharia Dominic Mburi-Muita has done, filling the whole Kenyan Mission to the UN with Kikuyus, making it a Kikuyu tribal speaking office. When Prof Bob Jalango was there the issues with the UN were pretty much nice and ever since I never hear Kenya’s future anymore.

Well, if there is something that we all need to consider is that we can not talk of an equal opportunity in Kenya if there exist a feeling and a general thought that there are some Kenyans who can not rule and tribes from whom we cannot have a president.

We cannot bury our heads in the sand and assume by default that things are ok: There is a general feeling especially repatriated against the Luos that a Luo can never be a president in Kenya. Infact the campaign went even further with Obama being viewed across the Democratic devide that him having the Luo blood from Kenya his tribesmen are poor and uncircumcised non leadership capable. I read that in New York times and was in shock what was written there by Prof Macharia Nyonyo of Virginia State.

When there is a belief that Raila being a LUO therefore not capable of ruling then sending Kibaki back to power is promoting that tribal hatred feeling. The Luos will then know the tribal hatred practices against them by Kenyatta regime is still rife and Kalonzo said that publicly, “(Who Can Elect a Luo?)” he asked. I think we as Kenyans have the opportunity to kill this kind of thoughts and hence eliminate the tribal hatred that has all along been proactively practised by Central Kenya leaders against the Luos.

The most painful think right now is the thought that Raila, who many have known was unelectable, because of his tribe is likely going to defeat Kibaki. Many of the Kikuyus even in the diaspora still are under the illusion that Raila is inconsequential and is going nowhere. They have no idea of what awaits them. Actually they have no idea that they are loosing, Some of the central Kenya leaders have been on a campaign to tell all the Central Kenya population that they stand loosing the presidency if they do not turn out in large numbers to vote against Raila.

In fact they are motivated by the pain that how can any Kikuyu even think that a Luo can lead? This is the bitternes you notice when you read their e-mails or even talk to them. Look at Mogies e-mails and you will see what I am talking about. I believe Raila having endorsed Kibaki in 2002, Luos have no problem with Kikuyu in the presidency, but Kikuyu’s actually not all of them though, are still under the illusion that Luos can’t be allowed to be president and should not be allowed ever at all. We can never talk of a united Kenya and tribal free Kenya if we still have elements holding those kind of thoughts in power. You all have heard Nyachae talk.

That same feeling is everywhere even if it were Tuju, Anyang’ Nyongo, or even James Orengo, that’s why some would rather have Kalonzo. Not because Kalonzo is a great guy but at least because he is not a Luo. In my view the Luo hatred spread around by the Kenyatta’s regime is what is paining them right now, especialy with the rest of Kenyans being so Kikuyu fatigued as Mr. Okal put it. I think most other tribes are also tired of the Kikuyu domination. Nothing personal against them though.

I am not tribalist but this is a true reflection of what really is causing Kibaki not to go back. Guys are fatigued and the hatred planted is turning against them now. Of course they are bound to feel pain and discomfort. But Cheer up guys, it will turn out for your good some day. Support someone else, not that you always want peoples votes and cannot give others yours! I feel sad but not all Kikuyu’s are of this thought but some of them especially those belonging to the yester-year’s are still so engraved in their hearts about it.

Cheers.

Raila’s Rally at Uhuru Park pulled enough on-lookers

Posted by africanpress on October 13, 2007

By Jerry Okungu

An East African perspective

THE Uhuru Park mammoth crowd was with Raila Odinga last Saturday. The Pentagon team was with him as was the galaxy of who was who that served in the Moi and Mwai Kibaki administrations. The sheer number of recent provincial commissioners, permanent secretaries, ambassadors and high commissioners was mind-boggling.

If Kibaki packed the Nyayo Stadium a week before with  50,000 people, Odinga went out to multiply that number by 20-plus. It was no ordinary crowd that one often sees many times in a lifetime. It surpassed the crowd that declared Kibaki tosha on October 14, 2002. It outstripped the crowd that witnessed the Kibaki crowning on December 30, 2002; the crowd that threw mud at Daniel arap Moi.

When Odinga woke up on Sunday morning the following day, he must have felt extremely fine. The gods of his ancestors had smiled on him again. The God of Israel and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru must have equally blessed him. The gods of Simba Wanje of the Giriama people in the Coast, the Masai Elder, the late Prophet Elijah Masinde of the Abaluhyia, Allah the God of Prophet Mohammed and the Hindu god must have all been in agreement; that Raila Odinga it was; at least at the moment.

Three pollsters also published their verdicts on Sunday morning to announce that Raila Odinga was widening the lead despite PNU officially having launched its campaign a week earlier. What were the real highlights of the ODM presidential campaign launch? They were many and varied.

However, the defection of three government ministers at the same time was difficult to ignore. Charity Ngilu and her deputy, Dr. Kibuguchy in the ministry of Health forsook their cabinet posts for ODM. Another assistant minister, Mr Morotto also called it a day from the Ministry of Education in favour of the “Hummer” Party. For their action, there are bound to be major political realignments in Eastern Province where Ngilu comes from and West Pokot where Morotto comes from.

Individuals to be affected by these developments will definitely be Kalonzo Musyoka who shares the region with Ngilu and Kibaki’s votes in West Pokot. A great departure from the Kibaki rally before, it was the level of civility that was prevalent among speakers. The 30-plus speakers from all regions of Kenya, defectors, interest groups and new converts indicated that the majority of opinion leaders had come to a conclusion that this time, Raila Odinga deserves to lead, that this time, Kenyans deserve to be led by Raila Odinga.

Key speakers that included former cabinet ministers Chris Obure of Kisii Nyanza, Chris Okemo of Western Province, the Somali mayor of Migori, William Ruto, Najib Balala, Joseph Nyagah and Musalia Mudavadi of the Pentagon were specific, issue-oriented, less belligerent and advocated peace despite the killing of an innocent man in Western Province by a PNU activist’s bodyguards as the rally was in progress.

When Odinga finally rose to speak, he preached the gospel of change to better the lives of Kenya. He was of the opinion that Kibaki was a good man who had taken an examination to lead Kenyans but had failed the exam. Having failed the exam it was only fair that he did not continue sitting in the class. He should be allowed to go back home to deal with less taxing duties in his village.

Odinga also took the opportunity to prove to Kenyans that he was not the tribalist that his political opponents wanted to portray him to be. He publicly talked about his relations with Kikuyus, the tribe he is supposed to hate. He named Kenneth Matiba and Charles Rubia as his close friends that he bonded with when they were both detained by Moi in the late 1980s and 1990s during their struggle for the second liberation. He mentioned his first son Fidel who was recently married to a Kikuyu girl. He talked of his first daughter who was married to a Luhya.

On recent accusations that he was a leader who had failed to build toilets in his Kibera slums, Odinga turned the tables on the government and the Nairobi City council. He asked the crowd to tell him who should build houses, toilets, roads, markets, hospitals and schools. The crowd roared back that it was the government that should provide those services because it was the government that collected taxes for such services.

On Kibaki’s failure to meet the promises that he made to Kenyans, Odinga reminded the crowd that the tribalism Kibaki promised to fight at the same venue had today gone through the roof. Inflation had rocked with prices of basic commodities like sugar, maize meal, bread and bus fare had more than doubled under the Kibaki regime.

He rubbished the 6% growth as meaningless to ordinary Kenyans. He argued that economic growth without a human face was no growth at all. He promised the Police Force better terms of service to avoid extorting money from the public.

He promised to retain the Provincial Administration but they will have to be elected by the people. He promised to bring a new constitution and devolve the government in the first six months of his administration.

On a lighter note, the Orange Democratic Movement Party turned Nairobi City upside down that Saturday. The whole city was awash with orange colours. Dignitaries of all walks of life were attired in the most fashionable and most expensive linen cloth. It was a fashion parade for most of the people who decided to attend the Uhuru Park ODM bash.

Without knowing it, Odinga and ODM have created a thriving fashion industry in Kenya. The OMD products have become hot potato. Jobs and millionaires are being created by the orange mania gripping Kenya. Most of all, it was a marvel to see over a million people behaving so peacefully without a single policeman in sight!

Kenyan students hold prayers

By Francis Emorut

KENYAN students studying in Ugandan universities should shun drugs, alcoholism and sexual immorality, a Nairobi-based pastor has advised.

Pastor Joseph Mwangi told the students on Tuesday that avoiding the vices was the only sure way of securing their futures. Speaking at a national prayer day for Kenyans living in Uganda at St. Francis Students’ Centre in Makerere University, Mwangi said Kenya would only develop if the students also avoided corruption.

The event, organised by the Makerere University Kenyan Students Association, was aimed at sensitising students on the dangers of drugs for which they have been blamed.

The association president, Dismas Musebe, said the prayers were also meant for the souls of seven Kenyan students who died at the university and the Kenyan presidential elections due in December.
