Norway. Young demonstrators fined a total of 331.000 kroner!

33 young demonstrators who stopped Statoils activities at Mongstad by blocking the company’s gates were arrested and are now fined a total of 231.000 kroner.
The head of the police in the region Mr Einar Vatne at Lindås and Meland police station told the media that the police arrested the youth at 14.00 Thursday afternoon and transported them to Knarvik police post.
On arrival, each one of them was presented with a fine to the tune of 7.000 kroner.
When the police arrived at Mongstad, the youth had chained themselves to the gates blocking employees from entering the facility. The police arrived at 11.30, but decided to wait until 14.00 before taking action.
The company has started new construction within the facility to accommodate the extension of gass production. The demonstrators are against the company’s plans to do so.
