Mr Peter Ranginya, ODM-K’s aspiring candidate raises funds in Norway!

Posted by africanpress on November 4, 2006

A fund-raising meeting took place today in Olso for ODM-Kenya’s aspiring candidate Mr Peter Ranginya in readiness for Parliamentary elections in Kenya next year.

He has lived in Norway for many years, and has now decided to go back to Kenya and present himself for the parliamentary elections next year in Ugenya constituency, his original home.

According to Mr Ranginya, it is time to be an active politician and represent his people in as Ugenya member of parliament. He says he understands the needs of his people and will not disappoint them if elected to parliament. He plans to initiate development projects that will uplift the living standard of his people.

When asked why he has chosen to run on ODM-K ticket, he says the party is Kenya’s future, a party he believes will liberate Kenyans economically and socially.

Although he knows he might face a stiff competition, he believes the electorate in Kenya is ready for the younger generation, energetic and focused in development issues in the area.

He had invited Kenyans and friends of Kenya to his fund-raising today.

It is possible to think that people living far away from home may not make it to parliament, because they have been abroad for too long, losing touch with the reality on the ground.

It was, however, not the case with Kenya’s Koigi wa Wamwere and Sudan’s Daniel Joak who both lived in Norway as refugees for many years.

They decided to go back after a number of years in order to present themselves as their people’s representatives in parliament. Now they represent their constituents in Kenya and Southern Sudanese parliaments respectively.

Therefore, Mr Ranginya should not be ruled out from capturing the Ugenya parliamentary seat in Kenya’s next year general elections.

I have HIV/AIDS, says Tone-Ann Magrethe

Posted by africanpress on November 4, 2006

A Norwegian woman involved in 3 proforma marriages with three African men, a Ugandan, South African  and a Botswana national, has now confirmed to African Press that she has HIV.

“Iam very bitter towards the African community,” says Ann-Magrethe.

When asked why she is bitter towards the whole community, she says may be she would still have a healthy life if someone had warned her not to enter into the proforma married which has resulted in making her sick.

” I have a miserable life now, and when I sit and think of this man who has shortened my life, it makes me hate all black people in Norway, she says.

The lady entered into a proforma marriage with a man she did not know.

when asked why she did so, and whether the money she received was the driving force, she says  entered into the false marriage in order to help poor Africans to a better life in Norway.

For her, money was not the main reason. She says she did it because she is against immigration policies practiced by Norway.

“Our immigration policies locks out people from the third world from entering and staying in our country. By entering into proforma marriage every 3 years, I believed I could help many to live in my country,” she says.

Proforma is not a real marriage. It is a way to defeat the system. The woman says she is not afraid to face the law for the crime she has committed because she did it in good faith “to help” the under-privilledged.

He bitterness is derived from the fact that she got the incurable disease as her reward.

She does not know which one of the three men that she has married gave her the disease.

She has agreed to give African Press all the details about her life during her proforma experience.

African Press will soon release her journal. She says her mission now is to warn others to abstain from the practice of entering into proforma, because it may put them into misery for ever.

She has also agreed to assist African Press to get an interview with the doctor who treats her on a weekly basis, a doctor who ensures she gets enough medicine for her HIV treatment.

Her priority now, she stresses, is to be active in a campaign to stop Norwegian women from engaging in proforma marriages in future.
